Pricing Policy

Background
Buntingford Swimming Club committee produce an annual financial plan which aims to assess whether annual expenditure has potential to exceed planned income such that measures can be put in place to address shortfalls. This approach serves to maintain the financial viability of the club. Expenditure items vary considerably and may occasionally include some items of high value. Whilst the club endeavours to maintain a financial cushion to cover potential shortfalls, where insufficient income is apparent in our annual forecast, the committee actively investigate approaches to derive additional income (eg fundraising events, sponsorship, grants etc). As a general principle, the committee will only seek to raise annual subscriptions as a last resort, consistent with our desire to extend the opportunities that our club has to offer to the widest possible cross section of our local community. The last increases in annual subscriptions were in January 2012, April 2006 and 2002.

General Fee Structure
Buntingford Swimming Club's goal is to secure personnel to run the club as unpaid volunteers, who share a genuine desire to serve their local community and to give something back to the sport of swimming. This approach keeps running costs down to a minimum helping us to provide every opportunity for our swimmers to receive the very best the club has to offer. To cover running costs (including insurance), all swimmers are asked to pay the same subscription regardless of their age and experience.

Payment Structure
To minimise bureaucracy, payments can be made annually, or monthly by standing order. In addition there is an annual club membership fee that covers club membership fee and all relevant subscriptions, registration, insurance and affiliation fees. Where additional sessions, events, coaches or events are held, additional contributions are requested from members as appropriate.

Temporary Payment Difficulties
Consistent with club rules, any member of the club who fails to pay their subscriptions for 3 consecutive months will be deemed to have left the club and their membership terminated. However, the committee recognise that individuals may occasionally experience temporary payment difficulties. Under such circumstances, any member having difficulty in paying their fees can discuss the problem with the treasurer or secretary in confidence and the committee may, at their discretion, offer reduced fees until such time that individual circumstances have changed. This applies to all swimmers irrespective of their age or ability.
